Job summary

SSC Services for Education, a Compass Group company, seeks a Maintenance Technician (Painter) for a full-time role at TAMU West Texas in Canyon, TX. Responsibilities include comprehensive maintenance of electrical, HVAC and facility systems, with leadership duties and a focus on quality assurance.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years of skilled trade or maintenance training, 5+ years institutional maintenance experience, and 2+ years as a licensed Journeyman.

Qualifications

• Four years of skilled trade school or maintenance vocational schooling.
• Five years of experience as a maintenance technician in an institutional setting in an engineering or maintenance discipline.
• Two years of experience as a licensed Journeyman in the specialized trade.

Responsibilities

• Assists in decisions on repairs; reports major problems to the maintenance supervisor and foreman.
• Constructs, installs, maintains and repairs electrical and mechanical systems or related facilities using power and hand tools.
• Cleans, lubricates, services, repairs HVAC, electrical and mechanical building systems and related equipment with appropriate training and licensing as needed.
• Supervises and leads a group of workers on a project.
• Reads, comprehends and transmits complicated detailed instructions verbally and in writing.
• Teaches advanced maintenance skills to other members of the department.
• Reviews work of outside vendors and licensed maintenance workers; makes punch lists.
• Reports on and repairs discrepancies as assigned.
• Analyzes and corrects complex building system problems, alone or as part of a team.
• Maintains logs, performs rounds and completes work orders, tests and inspections.
• Makes recommendations for modification or improvement of preventive maintenance systems.
• Serves as a member of facility emergency response team.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
