Job summary

Velociti Services is seeking a Maintenance Technician to preserve the condition and functionality of client facilities. You will inspect, repair, and implement preventative maintenance procedures to keep systems running smoothly.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with electrical/hydraulic systems, HVAC knowledge, and the ability to communicate and organize tasks efficiently. Overtime and weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certificate in HVAC, building maintenance technology or relevant field preferred.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
• In-depth knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Ability to work overtime including weekends and evenings.
• Plumbing knowledge to address leaks, clogs, or other drainage problems.
• Electrical wiring capabilities to manage building electricity issues.
• Carpentry ability for basic repairs around the building.
• Groundskeeping for outdoor areas when needed.
• Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail.

An ideal candidate will be a jack-of-all-trades, with in-depth knowledge of maintenance procedures, hydraulic systems, and basic tools and appliances. To excel in this position, you must be an outstanding problem-solver with exceptional communication and organizational skills.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Inspect buildings, equipment, and systems to identify any issues
• Repair faulty equipment units and damaged structures
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance procedures
• Manage heating and plumbing systems to guarantee functionality

Ideal Candidate Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent qualification
• Certificate in HVAC, building maintenance technology or relevant field is preferred
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role
• In-depth knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems
• Advanced understanding of general maintenance procedures and techniques
• Physically capable and available to work overtime including weekends, public holidays, and evenings
• Plumbing knowledge to address leaks, clogs, or other drainage problems
• Electrical wiring capabilities to manage problems with the building’s electricity
• Carpentry ability to handle basic repairs around the building
• Groundskeeping if the facility contains lawns or other outdoor areas in need of maintenance
• Interpersonal skills to interact with employees or residents of the building in a pleasant manner
• Attention to detail to ensure that all jobs are completed in an exemplary manner and any potential hazards or warning signs of problems are not overlooked

Physical Requirements

• Lift, bend, squat, and stretch to move boxes, parcels, and shipments
• Climb small to medium flights of stairs multiple times a day
• Standing for extended periods of time
• Approximately equal amount of time sitting and walking
• Requires ability to bend, reach and stand for extended periods
• Able to hear and speak into a telephone and walkie-talkie
• Close visual work on a computer terminal
• Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate any required computer keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments
• Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
• Able to climb a ladder and work on a raised platform
