Job summary

MidPen Housing Corp. is hiring a Maintenance Technician for Summer Oaks in Sonoma to keep safe, affordable housing in top condition. You’ll perform electrical, plumbing, and carpentry repairs, manage turnovers, and support landscaping under the Community Manager’s guidance.

You’ll work on a rotating schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays to ensure resident safety and comfort in our mission-driven communities. We value hands-on skills and teamwork.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED with 3 years in maintenance
• Extensive plumbing knowledge and electrical repair skills
• Rough and finish carpentry for structural and cosmetic repairs
• Basic OSHA safety regulations knowledge
• Strong coaching and training abilities
• Valid California driver’s license with reliable transportation
• Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds, work in all weather

Responsibilities

• Participate in rotating on-call schedule, providing 24/7 emergency maintenance for seven consecutive days
• Perform skilled maintenance across electrical work on appliances, fixtures, switches, circuits; plumbing and carpentry repairs
• Prepare vacant units for re-occupancy within established timeframes (turnovers, painting, flooring, fixtures)
• Maintain landscaping and irrigation per MidPen standards; ensure safe, clean common areas
• Coach and oversee Maintenance Groundskeeper staff; assist with training
• Coordinate with contractors: bidding, scheduling, monitoring of work
• Complete preventive maintenance schedules; maintain work order docs; manage inventory
• Assist Community Manager with move-ins/outs and inspections
• Perform other duties as assigned
