Job summary

South Texas College is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to perform general maintenance across carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, locksmith and energy tasks. The role includes installing and repairing equipment, preventive maintenance, and coordinating with the CMMS system.

Ideal candidates have a High School Diploma or GED and at least one year of related experience, with preference for multi-trade skills and strong communication abilities within a team environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least one year of related work experience required.
• Experience in two or more trades (carpentry, painting, locksmith) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs general maintenance duties including carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, locksmith and energy.
• Installs new equipment and repairs or replaces defective equipment.
• Cleans, services, oils and/or adjusts equipment.
• Operates and conducts routine preventive maintenance on College vehicles.
• Uses CMMS to note time and work performed.
• Prepares work order material from stock.
• Responds to inquiries and assists staff from various trades.
• Communicates with inspectors and vendors as needed.
• Adheres to safety regulations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
