Job summary

Ottenweller Company is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to troubleshoot and repair machinery, electrical and hydraulic systems, and pipe networks. The role includes performing preventative maintenance, training staff on procedures such as lockout-tagout, and handling welding tasks.

Strong reading of safety rules and manuals is required. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED with 5–7 years of hands-on experience in industrial maintenance, and certifications are preferred to

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED and 5–7 years of hands-on electronic and mechanical troubleshooting experience.
  • Collegiate Industrial Maintenance background/certifications preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots machinery and equipment and diagnoses problems.
  • Repairs defective machines and equipment by dismantling and installing parts.
  • Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, transformers, wiring, and electrical components of machinery.
  • Maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment; replaces gauges and valves.
  • Assists in preventative maintenance and ensures schedules are followed.
  • Trains production employees on proper maintenance procedures (e.g., lockout-tagout).
  • Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut/join metal parts.
  • Repairs and maintains physical facilities.
  • Initiates purchase requests for parts and machines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoots machinery and equipment and diagnoses problems.
  • Repairs defective machines and equipment by dismantling and installing new or repaired parts.
  • Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
  • Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
  • Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
  • Assists in performing preventative maintenance and ensures that preventative maintenance schedules are being met.
  • Assists in training production employees on proper maintenance procedures, including but not limited to, lockout-tagout.
  • Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
  • Repairs and maintains physical structure of facilities.
  • Initiates purchase requests for parts and machines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience

High school diploma or G.E.D., 5-7 years of hands-on electronic and mechanical troubleshooting and repair experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Collegiate Level Industrial Maintenance background/certifications preferred.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Math Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Skills

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
