Job summary

Alliant Energy is seeking a skilled journeyman technician to maintain the generation facility, performing mechanical, electrical and control maintenance, troubleshooting, and inspections. You will operate tools, read data from devices, and contribute to diagnostics and repairs for efficient plant operation.

You will use machine tools and heavy equipment, perform welding, and support safety and continuous improvement initiatives while adhering to procedures and maintaining clean, organized work

Qualifications

• Journeyman status in one of: Journeyman Mechanic, Journeyman Millwright, or Journeyman Maintenance Technician.
• Proof of journeyman status required during the hiring process.
• Demonstrated problem solving and machining skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical, electrical, instrument and control maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and inspection of facility equipment.
• Operate and read data from mechanical and electrical devices to support diagnostics and work activities.
• Use machine tools and hand-powered tools as needed.
• Operate mobile and heavy equipment for maintenance tasks.
• Carry out welding activities as required.
• Support safety, reliability, productivity and continuous improvement efforts.
• Follow established procedures and safety practices; maintain housekeeping in plant and shop areas.
• Perform other duties that are similar or incidental to this position.

Job Summary

Performs varied mechanical, basic electrical and basic control and instrument maintenance activities and other duties necessary to maintain the generation facility to which they are assigned.

What you will do

• Perform mechanical and basic electrical and basic instrument and control troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, cleaning, inspection, and construction of equipment and systems for the generation facility.
• Operate and/or obtain information from various mechanical and electrical devices used to support specific equipment diagnostics or work activities, gather, interpret and log data.
• Use machine tools and various hand‑powered tools as job needs dictate.
• Operate mobile and heavy equipment to perform maintenance tasks.
• Perform various welding activities.
• Support safety, plant reliability, productivity, and plant efficiency improvements by participating in continuous improvement activities.
• Carry out work according to established procedures and safety practices.
• Maintain housekeeping functions in the generating plant and shop area.
• Perform other duties which are similar, related, or incidental to this position.

Education Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED

Required Experience

• Journey level in the mechanical trade.
• Candidates must possess a valid state‑issued Journeyman card in one of the following trades: Journeyman Mechanic, Journeyman Millwright, Journeyman Maintenance Technician.
• Applicants must provide proof of their journeyman status during the hiring process.

Pay Range

$54.01 - $56.22
