Job summary

Alliant Energy is hiring for a role focused on operating and inspecting combustion turbines, combined cycle plants, HRSGs and steam generators. You will perform instrument control work, collect data, and maintain logs with a strong emphasis on safety and efficiency.

Job Summary

Performs a variety of work connected with the operations, inspections and instrument control and electrical of combustion turbine, combined cycle, HRSG, and steam generator sites.

Responsibilities

• Perform combustion turbine operations, combined cycle, HRSG, and steam generator inspections and instrument control and electrical tasks in a safe and efficient manner.
• Participate in job safety briefings, safety tailgate sessions, safety reviews and safety observations.
• Observe, operate and initiate repairs to the combustion turbine, combined cycle, HRSG, steam generator and related equipment.
• Maintain accurate operating logs of all equipment and perform preventive maintenance.
• Maintain, operate and repair water treatment systems; receive and unload acid and caustic trucks; troubleshoot and repair controls and valves; calibrate and repair recording and indicating instrumentation.
• Perform tests and report data on waste treatment systems; maintain performance monitoring and control equipment; monitor gas and steam turbine performance; keep testing records.
• Maintain a warehouse and order supplies as needed.
• Perform regular inspections of gas and steam turbines and auxiliary equipment using Maximo; participate during overhauls of all related plant equipment.
• Operate or obtain information from various electrical devices used to support specific equipment diagnostics or work activities; gather, interpret and log data.
• Use machine tools, hand‑powered tools, mobile and heavy equipment; perform various welding activities.
• Support safety, plant reliability, productivity and plant efficiency improvements through continuous improvement activities.
• Perform housekeeping functions in generating plant and shop area; perform other duties similar, related or incidental to this position.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Two (2) years of experience in electrical or instrument and control technical trade; or a 4‑year degree in electrical or instrument and control trade; or completed apprenticeship; or 2 years of Combustion Turbine electrical experience.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Knowledge, skills and abilities: problem‑solving; coordinating work and teamwork; strong personal and technical responsibility; basic mechanical skills; ability to work from blueprints, diagrams, drawings and specifications; knowledge of plant operations and systems; machining skills; welding theory and skill; company safety rule knowledge; physical capability; collaborative and inclusive work environment.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay range: $53.67–$56.23 per hour. Alliant Energy offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive rewards package including health and retirement benefits, tuition reimbursement and paid time off.
