Job summary

Alliant Energy is seeking a skilled journeyman mechanic to perform varied mechanical, basic electrical, and control maintenance at a generation facility in Wisconsin. You will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment, operate tools, and assist in safety and reliability improvements.

The role requires journeyman status in one of the trades, strong problem solving, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to solve problems and to perform mechanical and basic electrical work.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical, basic electrical and basic instrument/control maintenance to the generation facility.
• Operate devices, collect data, and log information for diagnostics and work activities.
• Utilize machine tools and hand tools as required by maintenance tasks.
• Operate mobile/heavy equipment to perform tasks and welding activities as needed.
• Support safety, reliability, productivity and continuous improvement efforts.
• Follow established procedures and safety practices in all work.
• Maintain housekeeping in plant and shop areas.

Job Summary

Performs varied mechanical, basic electrical and basic control and instrument maintenance activities and other duties necessary to maintain the generation facility to which they are assigned.

What You Will Do

• Performs the mechanical and basic electrical and basic instrument and control troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing, cleaning, inspecting and constructing of equipment and systems for the generation facility.
• Operates and/or obtains information from various mechanical and electrical devices used to support specific equipment diagnostics or work activities; gathers, interprets and logs data.
• Is proficient in the use of machine tools and various hand powered tools as job needs dictate.
• Operates mobile and heavy equipment to perform maintenance tasks.
• Performs various welding activities.
• Supports safety, plant reliability, productivity, and plant efficiency improvements by participating in various continuous improvement activities.
• Performs all work according to established procedures and safety practices.
• Performs various generating plant and shop area housekeeping functions.
• Performs other duties which are similar, related, or incidental to this position.

Work Shift & Hours

• Standard Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday start time at 5:00 AM
• Overtime Opportunities: Voluntary overtime is frequently available to support station needs and project demands; however, overtime is strictly optional and not mandatory.

Education Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED

Required Experience

• Journey-level experience in a mechanical trade. Candidates must possess a valid state-issued Journeyman card in one of the following trades:
• Journeyman Mechanic
• Journeyman Millwright
• Journeyman Maintenance Technician
• Applicants must provide proof of their journeyman status during the hiring process.

Pay Range

$54.01 - $56.22
