Job summary

TransTech is seeking a Maintenance Technician Lead in McGregor, TX to ensure optimal performance, safety, and compliance of shop equipment and facilities. You will schedule and perform preventative maintenance, coordinate with contractors for major repairs, and manage equipment documentation.

The ideal candidate will lead maintenance projects, supervise team members, and ensure adherence to PM schedules and OSHA requirements.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of 480V three-phase and 277/120V electrical systems.
• Knowledge of electrical controls, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Knowledge of VFDs is a plus.
• Experience with welding equipment and electrical/hydraulic maintenance.
• Familiar with PM software and OSHA requirements.

Responsibilities

• Maintains all shop equipment and arranges contractors for extensive repairs.
• Leads maintenance projects and coordinates team activities.
• Provides day-to-day direction and coaching on safety and procedures.
• Develops and maintains scheduling for Preventative Maintenance.
• Responsible for OSHA inspections including scheduling and reporting.
• Creates and maintains equipment files and documents.
• Recommends improvements to shop equipment and procedures.
• Performs daily inspections of forklifts, trucks, and overhead cranes; quarterly tool inspections.
• Oversees 3rd party contractors for maintenance.

Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician at Transtech Fabrication is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, safety, and compliance of all shop equipment and facilities. This role involves scheduling and performing preventative maintenance, coordinating with contractors for major repairs, and managing equipment documentation. The technician conducts routine inspections of machinery, tools, and safety systems, oversees building maintenance, and supports environmental compliance efforts. Additionally, they manage security systems and supervise third-party maintenance services when needed. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and experienced with PM software and OSHA requirements.

Tasks & Responsibilities

• Maintains ALL shop equipment, large or small. Arrange and schedule contractors as needed for extensive repairs. Works with the Maintenance Manager to determine best solution based on extent and timeframe.
• Assists the Maintenance Manager with cross-training within the department to build team skills and support coverage of maintenance responsibilities.
• Leads and facilitates maintenance projects, coordinating team activities and communicating progress, issues, and resource needs to the Maintenance Manager.
• Provides day-to-day direction and verbal coaching to department employees on work expectations, procedures, and safety; reports recurring performance issues, conduct concerns, and safety concerns to the Maintenance Manager for further review and action.
• Develops and maintains scheduling for all equipment Preventative Maintenance.
• Responsible for all annual inspections required per OSHA. (Scheduling, reporting and follow ups)
• Create and maintain all equipment files.
• Make recommendations to improve shop equipment and procedures for maintenance program.
• Daily inspections of forklifts, trucks, and overhead cranes. Quarterly inspection program for electrical shop tools, drop cords and lights.
• Routine building maintenance and repairs
• Manages any 3 rd party contractors required for maintenance and repairs that cannot otherwise be completed in-house.

Requirements

• Knowledge of 480V three-phase and 277/120V electrical systems
• Knowledge of electrical controls, pneumatic systems, and hydraulic systems
• Knowledge of and experience with variable frequency drives (VFDs) is a plus
• Experience in maintaining, repairing and a working knowledge of welding equipment
• Experience in maintaining, repairing and a working with electrical and hydraulic equipment
• Familiar with working from PM software.
• Good communication skills – This position will require the candidate to regularly work with Operations and Production management, along with Operations personnel to solve problems and make necessary repairs
• Basic Computer Skills (Microsoft Suite; outlook, word, excel)
• Knowledge and practice of safety standards such as Lock out/ Tag Out, OSHA requirements, etc.
• This position requires a self-starter - someone who is proactive in complying with Preventative Maintenance schedule, identifying issues and quick to respond to necessary repairs.
