Job summary

Schaumburg Community Consolidated School District 54 Operations and Maintenance is seeking an Operations and Maintenance Technician in Schaumburg, Illinois. The role performs all phases of operation and maintenance duties under the direction of Maintenance Leads, Assistant Director of Maintenance, and Director of Operations.

Starting immediately, this full-time position requires skilled repairs on mechanical systems, plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, snow removal, and preventive maintenance.

Qualifications

• Ability to deal with the public tactfully and courteously.
• Must be in good health and in good physical condition.
• Knowledge of small machines, repair and maintenance including their care.
• Must obtain a class C or higher driver’s license.
• Be able to make repairs to any building or equipment within a building.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical equipment within the district.
• Construct shelves, cabinets, etc., and repair desks, tables and chairs.
• Inspect and repair or replace plumbing fixtures and related work.
• Make minor electrical installations and repairs.
• Respond to emergency calls and perform maintenance on HVAC systems.
• Perform minor roof repairs and carpentry as needed.
• Handle preventive maintenance on controls and energy conservation projects.
• Maintain parking lots and sidewalks clear of snow.
• Keep tools and district equipment in clean condition and report injuries.
• Operate equipment safely and maintain daily safety inspections.
