Job description

Position Overview

Maintenance Technician – Injection (Nights). The role is responsible for ensuring equipment uptime through timely, in‑depth troubleshooting and repair of all production and facility equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and repair production equipment including injection molders, blow molders, fillers/cappers, labelers, case packers, conveyors, palletizers, and stretch wrappers.
  • Handle facilities and auxiliary equipment such as chillers, air compressors, reverse osmosis, and other water filtration equipment.
  • Work directly with machine operators, supervisors, preventative maintenance mechanics, and senior maintenance technicians to resolve mechanical issues during shift.
  • Propose solutions to complex and recurring problems to senior mechanics and management.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems using schematics, technical drawings, and testing equipment.
  • Repair equipment, fixtures, systems, and conveyors; modify, lubricate, and operate equipment according to Niagara’s processes.
  • Maintain industrial control systems and complete required work order paperwork.
  • Work independently and collaboratively to complete repairs safely and promptly.
  • Fill in for production operator as needed.
  • Follow plant safety rules, including safe lifting practices and safe machine operation; use personal protective equipment as required.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance to ensure plant uptime.
Essential Functions
  • Utilize schematics and technical drawings for troubleshooting.
  • Operate and maintain shop equipment such as hydraulic and mechanical presses, bench grinder, drill press, mill, lathe, and assorted power tools.
  • Use precision measuring equipment, including calipers, dial indicators, bore gauges, and depth gauges.
  • Act as a technical leader and trainer within a specific plant or machine center.
  • Own necessary tools and maintain an adequate toolbox.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in field maintenance or a similar role.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience managing people or projects.
  • Strong communication skills across multiple departments.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.
  • Skilled in shop equipment and precision measurement tools.
  • Willingness to lead and train within the plant.
  • Preferred: 6 years of field experience, 6 years in a similar position, and 6 years of people/project management experience.
  • Preferred: Experience in high‑speed manufacturing, bottling, beverage, packaging, or plastics industries.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of VFDs, servo drives and motors, rotary press or filler equipment, thermodynamics, heat transfer, or plastics processing.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with Krones, Sidel, or Husky equipment, HVAC (chillers, air compressors), and electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.
  • Preferred: Fabrication skills (cutting, welding), and experience with 480 VAC & 24 VDC electrical systems.

Education
  • High School Diploma (Minimum).
  • Associate’s Degree in manufacturing, manufacturing technology, mechatronics, industrial manufacturing, manufacturing automation, or related field (Preferred).
