Job description

Position Responsibilities

Accountable for maintenance, repairs, and reliability of Injection equipment, Blow molding equipment, including ancillary systems. Repairs and/or improvement on the line(s) as well as any mold changes, preventative maintenance, or work orders as assigned. Ensure proper and safe operational conditions of all production and related equipment.

  • Recommend, plan, repair, modify, make, install and adjust necessary elements following a problem or project that may affect productivity.
  • Assist in SAP/FMS improvement Work Orders, both generation and completion.
  • Communicate with Production Supervisor while working on repairs.
  • Assist and train production employees on machine conversions or repairs.
  • Ensure cleanliness of all equipment and related areas after repairs.
  • Communicate to Maintenance Manager and Lead on the condition of production equipment and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Assist in maintaining appropriate stock of spare parts, recommend potential Min/Max changes to parts inventory needed in SAP.
  • Assist Maintenance Electrician in investigating electrical-related problems.
  • Assist maintenance team with repairs, change overs, and training.
  • Assist in the development of Maintenance I and Maintenance II employees.
  • Review all machine safety procedures (Lockout/Tagout) and general safety procedures (Fire/Evacuation, Accident Reporting and all aspects of the Safety Contract).
  • Assist in Work Instruction creation for all Production equipment as needed.
  • Accountable for Maintenance shift calls for Blow, Injection and Facilities while scheduled on any shift other than E.
Required Skills
  • Ability to organize work efficiently and economically within the plant’s schedule(s).
  • Good mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Forklift Certified and Elevated Lift Certified.
  • Arc Flash Training completed.
  • Must be able to set up and troubleshoot both Blow molding and downstream equipment.
  • PLC and high voltage (up to 480) troubleshooting experience.
  • Ability to check for and adjust machine relative heights (Sidel).
  • Mold maintenance and repairs.
  • Pneumatic system repairs and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to start/stop Facilities equipment, including water, air, and chiller systems.
  • Must be willing to work any shift.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Employee works from a production schedule located within the work area. Randomly checks product produced every hour to ensure the customer specifications are met. Monitors flow of product into processing machinery. Tends machines such as palletizers, case packers, injection machines, and box machines to maintain product flow. Works at different work stations as production needs require. Works on lines where tasks vary, as products of various shapes and sizes move along lines. Checks finished product for possible defects. Wears all required personal protective equipment. Assures and participates in all plant safety/accident prevention policies, maintaining a safe work environment and following safe work practices. Maintains housekeeping of work areas. Follows all HACCP, GMP and Product Safety rules and guidelines. Trains current and new members of the department to perform job‑related tasks as needed. Learns new on‑the‑job skills as training opportunities become available. Performs any other tasks that may be assigned. Attends monthly shift meetings at 6am for day shift or 6pm for night shift.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree; or at least one year of manufacturing‑related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination.

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school; or five years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have prior maintenance/mechanical experience of at least three years or a certificate in maintenance.

The pay range for this position is determined by taking into account many factors such as experience, qualifications, certifications, skills, education, and other business‑related factors. Salary decisions are based on each job. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $34.00–$40.00 hourly, based on skills, ability and experience.
