Job summary

Publix is seeking a Maintenance Technician for the Atlanta Bakery Plant. The role supports maintenance across mechanical, electrical, and process systems with opportunities to weld, fabricate, and troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment.

Candidates must be 18+, flexible on shifts, and ready to pass a mechanical aptitude assessment. This on-site position emphasizes teamwork, safety, and proactive problem-solving in a fast-paced production environment.

Qualifications

• 18+ years old
• Basic mechanical and electrical aptitude
• Basic knowledge of hand tools
• Willingness to advance
• Willingness to complete a mechanical aptitude test
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Self-motivated
• Ability to lift in excess of 50 lbs
• Teamwork and safe work habits
• Willing to work nights, weekends, holidays and overtime

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and improve mechanical processes at the Manufacturing plant
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on process equipment across the plant
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment
• Create requisitions for parts and supplies
• Fabricate steel, stainless steel and aluminum as needed for process improvements
• Weld stick, TIG, sanitary TIG, and MIG
• Troubleshoot PLC and computer-controlled devices
• Perform minor plumbing and building maintenance
• Read and interpret schematics and drawings
• Operate forklift and other material handling equipment
• Maintain clean and safe work areas
• Assist with other duties as assigned
