Job summary

United Health Services (UHS) Chenango Memorial Hospital in New York's Southern Tier is seeking a Maintenance Technician - HVAC to operate, maintain, repair and install HVAC equipment across hospital facilities. Under minimal direction you will support the Plant Operations and Facilities Services and may lead a small team on projects.

The role is a day shift, 40 hours per week, with compensation range $25.12–$35.87 per hour depending on experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• 4–6 years in operational level maintenance and engineering in a hospital or similar setting.
• EPA Refrigerant Certification within 6 months of hire; valid driver’s license required.

• Operate, maintain, repair and install HVAC equipment and related hospital systems.
• Support all areas of Plant Operations and Facilities Services Department.
• Lead project teams and review vendor work as assigned.
• Provide training to other staff as needed.

Job description

Position Overview

Under minimal direction, provides operation, maintenance, repair, and installation of secondary components HVAC equipment and all fixed and non-fixed, non-patient care HVAC equipment in a safe, effective and efficient manner in response to, or in support of, customer needs. This position also supports all areas of the Hospital maintenance and preventative maintenance programs. The Maintenance Technician - HVAC also performs a variety of skilled maintenance duties for the hospital’s Plant Operations and Facilities Services Department and is assigned to work for the Supervisor of Facilities Services. In addition, the Maintenance Technician - HVAC may be called upon to lead a group of workers on a project, teach maintenance skills to other members of the department, review work of outside vendors to report on discrepancies, as assigned.

Education/Experience

Minimum Required:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 4 – 6 years’ experience in operational level maintenance and engineering and/or demonstrated experience as a Tech II or equivalent.

Preferred:

• Graduation from Trade School.
• 6 years’ experience in operational level maintenance and engineering with 4 years’ being hospital experience.

License/Certification

Minimum Required:

• Universal EPA Refrigerant Certification to be obtained within 6 months of hire/promotion
• Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing.

Preferred:

• HVAC Controls or HVAC Mechanic Certification.

In lieu of the above minimum requirements, an equivalent combination of experience and certification that fall within the limits of minimum requirements and preferred will be considered.
