Qualifications

Pay Range: Teammates in this position average $80K per year. Compensation for this position is $21.50 per hour plus an estimated $16.55 per hour in production pay, paid weekly.

Work Schedule: M-F 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Saturdays as needed.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Responsibilities
  1. Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures.
  2. Wear proper PPE as required.
  3. Perform daily inspections on equipment and report any defects or needed repairs to supervisor.
  4. Remove metals and debris from conveyor belt.
  5. Work in outdoor and indoor environments.
  6. Perform general labor duties that may include but are not limited to sweeping, shoveling and general cleanup of any area and/or equipment and physical handling of materials, supplies, etc.
  7. Be willing to cross-train in other positions and assist other teammates as needed.
  8. Conduct preventative maintenance and repairs on all equipment including but not limited to shredder, eddy current, etc., as required.
  9. Change liners, grates, hammers, etc. on the shredder.
  10. Change bearings, motors, gearboxes, conveyor belts, sprockets and drive chains as needed.
  11. Change hydraulic hoses, hydraulic cylinders and electric motors.
  12. Perform other job duties as assigned by the Facility Manager/Supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Minimum of 3 years of previous industrial maintenance experience.
  2. Strong mechanical abilities; field welding, torching, light fabrication, and knowledge of tools, etc.
  3. Knowledge of heavy-equipment operating principles.
  4. Working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to heavy equipment operations.
  5. Ability to troubleshoot problems and repair or replace worn or broken parts as necessary.
  6. Ability to work standing or walking for up to 12 hours per day.
  7. Ability to walk up several flights of stairs and work at heights above one story.
  8. Flexible to work weekends, and holidays; including overtime and six days a week as required by production.
  9. Able to complete job tasks safely and effectively without constant supervision.
  10. Ability to work closely with others in a team environment.
  11. Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions and effectively communicate in English, preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Trained and certified in rigging and/or signaling.
  2. Ability to interpret schematic diagrams, blueprints and sketches.
  3. Experience using a front-end loader, excavator, forklift, skid steer, scrap handler, man-lift mobile crane and overhead hoist as needed in an industrial/outdoor work environment.
