Maintenance Technician III – H‑E‑B
Location: Houston, TX
Job Summary
As a Maintenance Technician III, you will work in a team environment to support plant production, ensure process equipment reliability, and collaborate with the Maintenance Team Leader and Production Team Leader. Your responsibilities include troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and system improvement across electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and refrigeration systems. As an owner‑partner, commitment and quality excellence are essential.
Responsibilities
- Maintain manufacturing processes and equipment for high effectiveness.
- Operate and calibrate electrical, electronic, mechanical, pneumatic, and welding equipment.
- Repair and replace building systems, electrical components, electronics boards, hydraulic valves, mechanical parts, refrigeration components, and welding equipment.
- Inspect systems for compliance with electrical codes, pressure, temperature, and fluid levels.
- Perform preventive maintenance and lock‑out/tag‑out procedures.
- Troubleshoot and isolate issues in electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, and building systems.
- Read and draw blueprints, schematics, and design basic system schematics in AutoCAD.
- Plan and organize welding tasks, including TIG, oxyacetylene, and other welding processes.
Required Experience & Knowledge
- High school diploma.
- Experience in maintenance and repair of electrical, mechanical, and process equipment.
- Comprehensive knowledge of building systems: steam, chilled water, glycol, compressed air.
- Understanding of federal and local electrical codes; ability to install 240V 3‑phase systems.
- Proficiency in electronics board replacement, programming, and control systems.
- Hydraulic system knowledge, including reading hydraulic schematics.
- Mechanical troubleshooting knowledge, including gear calculations.
- Pneumatic system understanding, including Bourden tube gauge.
- Refrigeration/HVAC knowledge and current refrigeration license.
- Welding proficiency, including Heliarc and other methods.
Key Skills
- Strong technical knowledge and ability to work with technical and part support specialists.
- Ability to guide/training of other mechanics.
- Dependability, reliability, and commitment to quality.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Travel by car or plane with overnight stays.
- Regular lifting up to 20 lbs, occasionally 20 lbs or more.
- Work extended hours, rotating schedules.
- Operate in wet, cold, or hot environments; temperature ranges specified for product lines.
