Job summary

Specialized Packaging Group in Austin, TX is seeking a Maintenance Technician responsible for routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on equipment, machinery, and building systems to ensure optimal performance and safety.

You will minimize downtime, keep a clean, safe work environment, and support operations by inspecting systems, performing repairs, and documenting activities; shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; technical training or certification preferred.
• Proven experience as a maintenance technician or in a similar role.
• Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Familiarity with maintenance procedures, tools, and equipment.
• Ability to read technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
• Basic computer skills and experience with maintenance software (e.g., CMMS).
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Physical stamina and dexterity; ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various conditions.
• Primarily warehouse setting.
• May involve extended periods of standing, lifting, bending, and operating equipment.
• Requires use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed
• Other duties as assigned by plant management.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and perform maintenance on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair machinery, tools, and equipment.
• Conduct routine inspections of facilities and production equipment to identify and correct issues.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inventory usage.
• Assist in the installation and setup of new equipment and machinery.
• Ensure compliance with safety and operational standards (e.g., OSHA, company policies).
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency calls.
• Work with outside contractors and vendors when necessary.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance areas and tools.
