Job summary

Related Affordable is seeking aMaintenance Technician II to ensure safe, functional, and inviting buildings for residents in Rockford, IL. You will handle plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general upkeep while supporting a team dedicated to exceptional service.

You will prepare units for occupancy, address safety issues, and participate in on-call emergency maintenance. A strong work ethic, reliability, and teamwork are essential, with bilingual Spanish a plus.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in general maintenance or related field.
• Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical systems.
• Affordable housing experience is a plus.
• Must be able to participate in the emergency on-call rotation as needed.
• Demonstrates accountability and reliability with strong work ethic and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Complete service requests in a timely manner and interact with residents to ensure their needs are met.
• Prepare vacant units to occupancy standards within established time frames.
• Inspect property mechanical systems and grounds, addressing safety issues immediately with management.
• Conduct advanced routine maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repairs.
• Perform cleaning and upkeep of common areas and grounds.
• Train and mentor junior maintenance staff as needed.
• Inspect property and address maintenance concerns proactively.
• Assist in emergency repairs as directed by supervisors and rotate on-call for emergency maintenance.
• Maintain an inventory of maintenance supplies and report any shortages.
• Other duties as assigned
