Job summary

Cargill in Columbus, NE is seeking a Maintenance Technician II to support safe and reliable plant operations. You will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, and document work using a computerized maintenance system.

Qualifications include at least one year of industrial maintenance experience or related education, ability to read/write/speak English, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Rotating 12-hour shifts with overtime on weekends/holidays are required.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative, predictive, and reactive maintenance on production and facility equipment (mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic).
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues to keep equipment running safely and efficiently.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and basic precision tools for maintenance tasks.
• Read and follow work instructions, schematics, manuals, and safety procedures.
• Document completed work and equipment conditions in a computerized maintenance system (CMMS).
• Work in a fast-paced production setting with PPE; may involve standing, climbing, bending, twisting.
• Work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Support food safety, housekeeping and safety standards across the facility.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Compensation: $27.03/hr – $33.03/hr

Job Overview The Maintenance Technician II supports safe and reliable plant operations by maintaining and repairing production equipment and facility assets. In this role, you will perform routine preventative maintenance and help troubleshoot mechanical or electrical issues with limited direction. This is a great opportunity to utilize your maintenance skills while contributing to food safety, equipment reliability, and team success.

What You Will Do

• Perform preventative, predictive, and reactive maintenance on production and facility equipment, including but not limited to mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and electrical issues to keep equipment running safely and efficiently.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and basic precision tools to complete maintenance tasks.
• Read and follow work instructions, schematics, manuals, and safety procedures.
• Document completed work and equipment conditions using a computerized maintenance system.
• Perform job duties in a fast paced, cold, or warm production setting with required PPE while engaging in physical tasks such as standing for long periods of time, climbing, bending, and twisting, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Work overtime, weekends, and holidays as requested.
• Support food safety, housekeeping, and safety standards across the facility.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Will Need

• Must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• One year of industrial or manufacturing maintenance experience or educational equivalent or certification in maintenance, mechanics, or related trade.
• Willingness to learn and follow safety, food safety, and maintenance procedures.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.

What Will Put You Ahead

• Welding, fabrication, or conveyor system experience.
• Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
• Work history in the last 12 months.
