Job summary

CJ Schwan's seeks a maintenance technician to perform preventive maintenance and complex repairs on conveyor systems and food production equipment in a full-time role in Kentucky. You will troubleshoot, weld, fabricate, and install new equipment as needed, while documenting activities in SAP and supporting production teams.

Responsibilities

• Conduct preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on conveyors and food production machinery.
• Perform complex mechanical repairs (shaft keying, sprocket broaching, gear head replacement, welding, hose fabrication, belt maintenance).
• Assist with equipment setup, teardown, welding, fabrication and installation of plant machinery.
• Diagnose mechanical issues via observation, sound, and precision tools; identify root causes.
• Utilize SAP to document maintenance, track work orders, and coordinate with production teams.

Starting Pay: $31 per hour

Additional $1.50 shift differential from 6 p.m. -- 6 a.m.

What You Will Do

• Conduct advanced preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on conveyor systems and food production machinery to ensure reliable operation and minimize downtime.
• Perform complex mechanical repairs including shaft keying, sprocket broaching, gear head replacement, stainless steel welding, hydraulic hose fabrication, and belt maintenance using specialized tools and equipment.
• Assist with equipment setup, teardown, welding, fabrication, and installation of new or modified plant machinery to support production needs.
• Diagnose mechanical issues through observation, auditory assessment, and use of precision measuring instruments, and effectively identifying and resolving root causes.
• Utilize SAP software to document maintenance activities, track work orders, and communicate effectively with production and operations teams to optimize workflow.

What You Will Bring

• High school diploma or GED; two-year degree in specialized maintenance trade preferred.
• 3+ years of related experience.
• Work different ranges of hours such as full-time, overtime, or weekend shifts.
• Basic to advanced mechanical knowledge, electrical and building skills.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
