Position Summary
Under general supervision, performs precision tune‑ups and maintenance on HVAC equipment and accessories. Communicates with customers to answer questions, resolves problems, and ensures complete customer satisfaction. Promotes products and services to customers. Works under the direction of the Field Supervisor or General Manager.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine precision tune‑ups and maintenance on heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment and accessories.
- Inspect and perform limited diagnostics on equipment to identify potential problems and prevent premature or unexpected breakdowns.
- Complete routine maintenance and equipment cleaning as needed or required.
- Deliver and remove parts and equipment needed to complete service work.
- Assist the Service Technician in servicing HVAC equipment and accessories.
- Record all required information on a hand‑held device and complete all forms and paperwork accurately and promptly.
- Collect payment from customers, if necessary.
- Communicate with dispatch to provide accurate status reports of activities and availability.
- Promote products and services to customers and forward replacement product sales leads to the Sales and Service Coordinator.
- Ensure company property, vehicles, and tools are maintained, used responsibly, and properly accounted for.
- Represent the company professionally, honestly, and ethically in all business matters.
- Follow standard procedures and processes, ensuring vehicles are properly stocked.
- Perform similar or other duties as needed or assigned.
Health & Safety Roles and Responsibilities
- Report any unsafe acts, conditions, or hazards to the direct supervisor/manager immediately.
- Report any contravention of legislation or company policy, procedure, or program to the direct supervisor/manager immediately.
- Correct substandard acts or conditions within the area of control.
- Use and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by company program(s).
- Never remove or render ineffective safety guards, devices, or clothing that are prescribed.
- Comply with general rules prescribed by company program(s) or procedure(s).
- Operate devices or equipment as prescribed by company program(s) or procedure(s).
- Participate in safety initiatives, teams, or committees.
- Report all injuries or incidents immediately as required by company program(s) or procedure(s).
- Provide input on developing safety initiatives and plans to eliminate exposures that could cause accidents.
- Refuse to perform any acts that may endanger the safety or well‑being of others.
- Do not engage in pranks, contests, or rough boisterous behavior.
- Work in compliance with applicable legislative requirements.
Desired Skills and Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED with additional training and 3–5+ years’ experience in HVAC.
- All valid licensing or certification as required by federal, state, provincial, or local regulations for the geographic work area.
- EPA and safety certifications required.
- Basic knowledge of the fundamentals of heating, air conditioning, and ventilation equipment operation and related accessories.
- Proficient mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate all necessary tools and equipment.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams, troubleshoot electrical, refrigerant, and duct system problems on air conditioning equipment.
- Effective communication skills to resolve customer issues, complaints, or concerns.
- Effective and efficient time‑management and organizational skills.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- Flexible work schedule, including on‑call shifts.
- Experience performing basic maintenance work on HVAC equipment and accessories desirable.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and maneuver in attics, basements, and crawl spaces.
- Ability to safely climb 300‑lb load‑capacity rated ladders with a 30‑lb tool belt.
- Vision adequate for close, distance, and peripheral tasks with normal depth perception.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Minimum experience: 4+ years.
- Minimum education: High School Diploma/GED.
