Job summary

Chewy is recruiting for a Maintenance Technician II at our Pittston, PA location. You will support the fast-paced fulfillment center operations, maintain equipment, and develop new skills in e-commerce fulfillment.

The role covers a wide range of facilities, maintenance, and utilities across the center, with opportunities to lead and improve mechanical systems. Maintain safety and equipment performance, perform inspections, address electrical issues, and participate in continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Must have 36+ months of facility maintenance experience.
• Electrical knowledge of 24v ac/dc control circuits.
• Electrical knowledge of 120v power & control circuits.
• Electrical proficiency of 277v-480v power circuits.
• Experience with conveyor mechanical systems (belts, drives, tracking valves).
• Ability to lift 75 pounds and work at elevations up to 35 feet.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and improvement, housekeeping and plumbing, metal fabrication and carpentry to support our fast-paced fulfillment center operations.
• Ensure all fulfillment center equipment is operating and maintain a safe working environment for the team.
• Complete periodic and general maintenance tasks across the facility per schedule.
• Conduct daily inspections of conveyor systems, shipping and packing equipment areas.
• Maintain accountability for equipment and parts usage, reducing loss and defects.
• Address mechanical and electrical problems by testing and evaluating components, equipment and circuits.
• Read and interpret electrical, pneumatic and plumbing schematics.
• Follow company procedures and perform other duties as assigned.

What You'll Do

• You will perform maintenance and improvement, housekeeping and plumbing, metal fabrication and carpentry to support our fast-paced fulfillment center operations.
• Ensure that all fulfillment center equipment is operating accurately and ensure a safe working environment for all your fulfillment team.
• Complete periodic and general maintenance tasks throughout the facility - as assigned and according to schedule.
• Perform daily inspections of conveyor systems, shipping, and packing equipment areas.
• Maintain accountability for assigned equipment and associated gear list, reducing loss, damage, and defects to zero.
• Complete repair order and maintain parts usage records.
• Address mechanical and electrical problems, you will visually check, test, and evaluate the condition of components, equipment, and circuits.
• Follow company procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need

• At least 36 months of previous facility maintenance experience.
• (Mechanics and Maintainers, Construction and Engineering, Aviation and Transportation Repair).
• Must have electrical experience or understanding.
• Need to be able to demonstrate electrical knowledge of 24v ac/dc control circuits.
• Required to exhibit electrical knowledge of 120v power & control circuits.
• Obligated to demonstrate electrical proficiency of 277v-480v power circuits.
• Experience using appropriate tools and maintenance equipment.
• Ability to lift 75 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently.
• Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance to work at ground level, with the ability to climb and work at elevations up to 35 feet above floor level.
• Curiosity about math, electricity, shop mechanics, electric motors, and appliances.
• Good at solving problems.
• Understand potential exposure exists to high voltage current, welding equipment, vehicle and equipment lubricants and solvents.
• Ability to work nights and weekends.
• Experience with fire system and fire alarm electronic devices.
• Ability to read, understand & interpret electrical, pneumatic, & plumbing schematics.
• Experience with conveyor mechanical systems (belts, drives, tracking valves).
• Experience with VFD motor controllers.
• Experience with motor starters and control cabinet.
• PLC knowledge - input/outputs fixing or some programming.
• HVAC - sophisticated knowledge or experience.
• Communicate preventative maintenance and repair opportunities as well as bringing to attention resources outside of normal hours when needed, to ensure system performance.
• Can communicate, make sound decisions, work well under stress.
• Recognize problems and repair before breakdown occurs.
• Proactive problem solving & mechanical proficiency skills.
• Ability and willingness to train others.
• Able to work nights, weekends and overtime.
