Job summary

Beacon Communities LLC is seeking a Maintenance Technician II for Georgetowne Homes—Hyde Park, MA. The role involves performing skilled maintenance across electrical, plumbing, appliances, HVAC and carpentry, with on-site responsibilities and a sign-on bonus.

You will handle turnover work, general repairs, preventive maintenance, inventory, snow removal, and groundskeeping while supporting other properties in the region. Strong English and a valid license are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• 3–5 years of related experience.
• General knowledge of electrical, plumbing, appliances, HVAC and/or carpentry.

Responsibilities

• Perform turnover-related clean out and demo for make-ready.
• Carpentry duties: wallboard repair, countertops/cabinet replacement, doors and windows repair.
• Paint, drywall patching, and replacement of cover plates.
• Monitor and organize inventory.
• Picks up and delivers supplies; snow removal as needed.
• Maintain grounds (mowing, pruning, debris removal).
• Assist with preventive maintenance and safety compliance.
• Provide after-hours on-call maintenance service.
• Assist at other properties in the region as needed.

General Statement of Duties

Under limited supervision, performs various skilled maintenance functions including minor repairs that do not require the need for a license in the following areas: electrical, plumbing, appliances, flooring, carpentry, painting, heating/air issues.

Supervision Received

Reports to Maintenance Supervisor.

Essential Functions of the Position

(Any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the listed examples include all duties that may be found in positions of this class.)

• Performs all clean out and demo work for turnover related responsibilities once apartments are vacated to ensure make ready status is achieved in a timely manner.
• Performs general carpentry duties such as wallboard repair, countertop/cabinet replacement, finish carpentry, window/glass repair, door/lock repair, and ceramic tile repair.
• Perform drywall patch work, painting, replacement of cover plates, and cleaning common areas.
• Monitors and organizes inventory.
• Picks up and delivers supplies using company or personal vehicle.
• Removes snow from property during any and at all hours.
• Maintains grounds by mowing lawns, pruning trees and shrubs, and removing weeds and debris.
• Performs assigned preventive maintenance duties and tasks.
• Assists in maintaining equipment to function properly and comply with all safety standards.
• Performs emergency on-call service for after hours maintenance-related issues as required.
• Assists at other properties in the region as needed.

Minimum Education, Training and Experience

• High School diploma or GED
• 3-5 years of related experience
• General knowledge of electrical, plumbing, appliances, HVAC and/or carpentry

Preferred Education, Training and Experience

• Trade school or college degree
• CAMT certification
• Completion of Greenlight Maintenance Learning Plan

Qualifications and Skills

• Skilled in at least 2 trades (electrical, plumbing, appliances, HVAC and carpentry, etc.
• Maintains a valid driver's license
• Technical proficiency with cell phones and tablets
• Availability for on-call activity during off hours for urgent needs
• Ability to speak and understand basic English

Physical Capabilities

Must live within 30 minutes of the property, unless otherwise approved by management. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb and work on ladders, work with arms raised over head, stand/walk for long periods of time, climb stairs, bend at waist and knees to lift boxes, appliances, furniture, shovel snow, etc.

Compensation

$28.93 - $34.00 per hour

Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location.

$500 payable after 90 days of employment
