Job summary

Beacon Communities LLC is seeking a Maintenance Technician in Boston to perform skilled maintenance across electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting and appliances. The role requires at least 3–5 years of related experience and a high school diploma or GED.

You will handle turnover work, repairs, inventory, supply runs, and after hours on-call service, with occasional travel to nearby properties. A valid driver’s license and basic English are required; trade school or CAMT certification

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3–5 years of related maintenance experience.
• General knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry.
• Trade school or college degree preferred.
• CAMT certification and Greenlight plan desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance across electrical, plumbing, appliances, carpentry, and HVAC.
• Handle clean out and demo for turnover to achieve make-ready status quickly.
• Do drywall patching, painting, and tile work; repair fixtures as needed.
• Monitor and organize inventory; manage supplies and deliveries.
• Provide after-hours on-call maintenance support as required.
• Assist at other properties in the region as needed.

General Statement of Duties:

Under limited supervision, performs various skilled maintenance functions including minor repairs that do not require the need for a license in the following areas: electrical, plumbing, appliances, flooring, carpentry, painting, heating/air issues.

Supervision Received:

Reports to Maintenance Supervisor.

Supervision Exercised:

No supervisory duties

Nonexempt

Essential Functions of the Position:

(Any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the listed examples include all duties that may be found in positions of this class.)

• Performs all clean out and demo work for turnover related responsibilities once apartments are vacated to ensure make ready status is achieved in a timely manner.
• Performs general carpentry duties such as wallboard repair, countertop/cabinet replacement, finish carpentry, window/glass repair, door/lock repair, and ceramic tile repair.
• Perform drywall patch work, painting, replacement of cover plates, and cleaning common areas.
• Monitors and organizes inventory.
• Picks up and delivers supplies using company or personal vehicle.
• Removes snow from property during any and at all hours.
• Maintains grounds by mowing lawns, pruning trees and shrubs, and removing weeds and debris.
• Performs assigned preventive maintenance duties and tasks.
• Assists in maintaining equipment to function properly and comply with all safety standards.
• Performs emergency on-call service for after hours maintenance-related issues as required.
• Assists at other properties in the region as needed.

Minimum Education, Training and Experience:

• High School diploma or GED
• 3-5 years of related experience
• General knowledge of electrical, plumbing, appliances, HVAC and/or carpentry

Preferred Education, Training and Experience:

• Trade school or college degree
• CAMT certification
• Completion of Greenlight Maintenance Learning Plan

Qualifications and Skills:

• Skilled in at least 2 trades (electrical, plumbing, appliances, HVAC and carpentry, etc.
• Maintains a valid driver's license.
• Technical proficiency with cell phones and tablets.
• Availability for on-call activity during off hours for urgent needs.
• Ability to speak and understand basic English.

Physical Capabilities:

Must live within 30 minutes of the property, unless otherwise approved by management. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb and work on ladders, work with arms raised over head, stand/walk for long periods of time, climb stairs, bend at waist and knees to lift boxes, appliances, furniture, shovel snow, etc.

Compensation:

$28.93 - $32.00 per hour

Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location.

$500 payable with first paycheck

$500 payable after 90 days of employment
