Job summary

Florida Blue is seeking an experienced maintenance technician to independently perform planned and corrective maintenance on electrical, HVAC, mechanical, life safety, and plumbing systems across facilities.

The role involves operating chillers, cooling towers, air handlers, pumps, and life safety systems, with duties including preventive maintenance, repairs, and large room setups. Shift rotations, holidays, and overtime are required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of maintenance experience with building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing).
• Knowledge of chiller plant operations and HVAC basics.
• Experience reading blueprints and mechanical/electrical drawings.
• Experience replacing pumps, bearings, and electrical components.
• Must meet Regular Driver requirements per Vehicle Use Policy 4.16.
• Shift work including day, night, weekends, overtime and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on building engineering systems.
• Diagnose and perform corrective maintenance on building engineering systems.
• Build, modify, and repair furniture per provided drawings. Conduct large room setups for conferences.
• Operate and repair HVAC, mechanical, life safety, electrical and plumbing systems.
• Monitor vendor’s performance of major equipment systems maintenance.
• Perform light carpentry and electrical work such as painting, drywall repairs and ballast changes.
• Monitor and operate critical facilities equipment using BAS and inform management of abnormalities.

Qualifications

Required Work Experience

• 3+ years related work experience with building systems (HVAC, electro-mechanical, etc.) maintenance and repair
• Knowledge of chiller plant operations.
• Knowledge of basic maintenance of HVAC systems.
• Knowledge of basic electrical operations and maintenance.
• Experience reading blueprints and Mechanical, Electrical and plumbing plans.
• Experience with pump, bearing, and fan motor replacements. Experience Identifying and replacing faulty plumbing components.
• Experience working on a computer in a Windows environment.
• Must meet the requirements to be classified as a Regular Driver in accordance with Vehicle Use Policy Number 4.16.
• Shift work required - Must be able to work day, night, and weekend shift rotations, including overtime and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with emergency generating systems.
• Experience with Automated Building Management Systems.
• Knowledge of UPS systems and operations.
• Experience with HVAC equipment repairs Experience with troubleshooting and repair of industrial kitchen equipment.

General Physical Demands

Heavy work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently.

Physical/Environmental Activities

Must be able to travel to multiple locations for work (i.e. travel to attend meetings, events, conferences). Occasionally May be exposed to outdoor weather conditions of cold, heat, wet, and humidity. Frequently May be exposed to outdoor or warehouse conditions of loud noises, vibration, fumes, dust, odors, and mists. Hourly Pay Range: $24 - $38

Typical Hourly Pay Range: $24 - $30
