This role involves performing routine, preventative, and general maintenance services across various systems, emphasizing safety for patients, staff, and oneself. Responsibilities include maintaining life safety systems and documenting all activities.
Major Responsibilities
- Perform facility and equipment maintenance per applicable codes and standards, documented via the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical equipment such as motors, pumps, conveyors, doors, fans, boilers, heat exchangers, and controls, within defined parameters and with moderate guidance.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair patient care equipment like beds, wheelchairs, carts, and tables.
- Handle mechanical/electrical systems including pneumatic tubes, HVAC, refrigerators, freezers, ice machines, kitchen equipment, electrical, plumbing, and medical gas systems, within defined parameters and with moderate guidance.
- Perform routine to moderately complex maintenance tasks including grounds maintenance, carpentry, painting, and snow removal.
- Respond to emergencies such as leaks, floods, outages, fires, and equipment failures, following emergency response plans.
- Address building occupant requests promptly, perform zone maintenance rounding, and keep requesters informed.
- Conduct preventive maintenance and safety checks on equipment.
- Inspect and repair fire doors, hardware, firewalls, and smoke partitions.
- Read blueprints and manuals to complete assignments effectively.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2-4 years of experience in equipment maintenance.
- Basic computer skills including CMMS, building automation, and Microsoft Office.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical and Working Conditions
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, crawl, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently.
- Lift up to 15 lbs. from floor to overhead; up to 50 lbs. from floor to chest; carry up to 50 lbs. at waist height.
- Push/pull with 50 lbs. of force.
- Exposure to electrical and mechanical hazards; knowledge of safety precautions required.
- Position may require travel and exposure to road/weather hazards.
