Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Technician II will play a key role in maintaining and optimizing the performance of plastic injection molding machines and other related manufacturing equipment within a medical device production environment. This position requires a strong background in troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on complex machinery. The technician will work independently, handle more complex repairs, and contribute to maintaining the facility while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Core Hours & Flexibility:

AMT is a 24/7 manufacturing operation. We offer 5 core shift schedules and are open to qualified candidates on any shift for this position. Due to the nature of our operations, flexibility is required. Occasional early morning, evening and weekend work may be necessary to perform critical maintenance and repairs on other shifts to minimize production downtime. Qualified candidates should be able to complete training for 2-3 week during our first shift 6am to 2:30pm based on the senior or lead technician's schedule. Off-shifts receive a shift premium on top of their base pay. Standard shift schedules and premiums are listed below.

• 1st shift: Mon-Fri 6am-2:30pm [Premium: Base + $0/hr]
• 2nd shift: Mon-Fri 2pm to 10:30pm [Premium: Base + $1.00/hr]
• 3rd shift: Sun-Thur OR Mon-Fri 10pm to 6:30am [Premium: Base + 1.50/hr]
• 4th shift: Fri/Sat/Sun 6am to 6:30pm [Base + 15%/hr]
• 5th shift: Fri/Sat/Sun 6pm to 6:30am [Base + 16.5%/hr]

Key Responsibilities:

Preventive Maintenance:

• Independently perform routine and non-routine preventive maintenance on injection molding machines and related equipment.
• Identify potential issues during routine inspections and address them before they lead to equipment failures.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of preventive maintenance procedures and schedules.

Repair Work:

• Troubleshoot and resolve a variety of equipment issues with minimal supervision, ensuring machines are operating at optimal levels.
• Conduct complex repairs on electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems of injection molding machines.
• Collaborate with senior technicians on major repairs and equipment upgrades.

Injection Molding Machine Operation:

• Operate injection molding machines, making necessary adjustments to settings and parameters to maintain product quality.
• Diagnose and fix operational issues to minimize production downtime.

Facility Maintenance:

• Perform facility maintenance tasks such as HVAC repairs, electrical work, and plumbing to ensure the production environment is safe and functional.
• Participate in facility improvement projects, providing input based on technical expertise.

-Documentation & Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs, preventive maintenance, and equipment performance.
• Provide detailed reports on maintenance tasks and suggest improvements based on data analysis.

Safety & Regulatory Compliance:

• Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, conducting safety checks, and reporting potential hazards.
• Adhere to industry regulations and quality standards, particularly those related to medical device manufacturing.

Communication & Collaboration:

• Effectively communicate technical issues and solutions to supervisors/managers, team members, and cross-functional teams.
• Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure seamless production and equipment functionality.

Training & Development:

• Assist in training entry-level technicians on basic maintenance tasks and safety procedures.
• Stay updated on the latest maintenance technologies and best practices, seeking opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications:

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in maintenance, mechanical, electrical, or a related field is preferred.

Experience:

• 3-5 years of experience in maintenance within a plastic injection molding environment, preferably in medical device manufacturing.

Technical Skills:

• Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing injection molding machines and related equipment.
• Strong understanding of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.

Problem-Solving Abilities:

• Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues.
• Capable of performing root cause analysis and implementing long-term solutions.

Communication Skills:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly.
• Experience in writing detailed maintenance reports and documentation.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and move equipment, stand for extended periods, and work in various conditions, including confined spaces and heights.
• Ability to operate various hand and power tools, forklifts, cranes, etc.
• Ability to use phone and email for communications with vendors, suppliers, third party maintenance services, and internal teams as needed.

Work Environment:

• The position is based in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, machinery, and temperature fluctuations.
• Compliance with all safety protocols and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.

Compensation:

• $28 to $34 per hour depending on qualifications.
