Job summary

WinnCompanies is seeking a Maintenance Technician I for Mt. Pleasant Apartments in Roxbury, MA. This role performs maintenance in rental units, common areas, offices, grounds and parking areas to ensure safe, comfortable living for residents.

Responsibilities include repairs across appliances, carpentry, plumbing, electrical and HVAC basics, plus preparing vacant units for market readiness. On-call duties and strong communication are important; prior CAMT or vocational training is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, appliances, and HVAC.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
• Basic computer and tablet familiarity expected.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs in appliances, carpentry, hardware accessories, masonry, painting, basic electrical, plumbing, and HVAC.
• Complete service requests and repairs per company procedures.
• Assist in preparing vacant apartments for market readiness.
• Maintain grounds and curb appeal including snow removal and trash management.
• Be available for on-call activity during off-hours and emergencies.

About the Opportunity

WinnCompanies is searching for a Maintenance Technician I to join our team at Mt. Pleasant Apartments, a 98-unit affordable housing community located in Roxbury, MA.

In this role, you will perform maintenance functions in the community, including rental units, residential common areas, office, grounds and parking lots.

The pay range for this role is $27.00-$30.00 per hour.

Responsibilities:

• Perform repairs in such areas as, but not limited to, appliances, carpentry, hardware accessories, masonry, painting, basic electrical, basic plumbing, and basic HVAC.
• Complete assigned service requests and repairs consistent with company operating procedures.
• Assist in preparing vacant apartments for market ready status in accordance with company standards.
• Maintain grounds and curb appeal through snow removal, landscaping, and trash management activities.
• Be available for on-call activity during off-hours and emergencies based on a pre-determined schedule and need.

Requirements:

• Less than 1 year of relevant work experience.
• General knowledge of electrical, plumbing, appliances, and HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning).
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic familiarity with computers and tablets.
• Availability for on-call activity during off hours for urgent needs.
• Ability to speak and understand basic English.
• Ability to work with a diverse group of people and personalities.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Vocational or technical training.
• Certificate for Apartment Maintenance Technicians (CAMT).
