Job summary

Canam Steel Corporation seeks a 3rd shift maintenance technician to keep production running by performing preventive maintenance, basic welding, and electrical troubleshooting. You’ll read blueprints, operate maintenance systems, and install or move equipment while following safety procedures.

The role requires knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems with the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a loud, industrial environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• General controls and electrical troubleshooting knowledge.
• Extensive knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatics.
• Basic welding skills and ability to read blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and emergency service on machinery.
• Ensure site facilities and equipment are in proper working order.
• Install, move, and align machinery and components.
• Follow lockout/tagout procedures per OSHA and policies.
• Read blueprints and operate Maintenance Management systems.

• Able to perform basic electrical troubleshooting andhave ageneral knowledge of controls.
• Ableto install and move machinery.

• Ability to complete all duties and responsibilities as part of a team as well as alone.
• Works as a cooperative member oftheteam while performing duties and alone, as needed.

• Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; handle objects, tools, controls and reach with hands and arms; climb and balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
• Regularly required lifting and/or moving up to 65 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this jobinclude:close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depthperceptionand the ability to adjust focus.Must have normal color vision.

Work Environment:

• Regularly works near moving mechanicalparts;in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions.
• Regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic chemicals, extreme cold, extremeheatsand risk of electrical shock.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
