Job summary

FMI Composites LLC in Winston-Salem, NC is seeking a Maintenance Technician I to support production and facility operations. This role performs preventive maintenance, troubleshoots mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, and helps minimize downtime.

Ideal candidates read schematics, use basic tools and a multimeter, with industrial electrical experience a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to meet physical demands, including lifting up to 50 lbs and performing frequent standing, walking, and bending.
• Proficiency with hand/power tools; forklift or mobile equipment experience a plus.
• Ability to read and follow safety procedures, manuals, and work instructions.
• Basic math and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills with a safety-first mindset.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on production equipment and facility systems to minimize downtime.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, including replacing components (motors, sensors, belts, pumps, valves, bearings).
• Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to diagnose and resolve equipment issue.
• Conduct routine inspections and maintain accurate maintenance and repair record.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and support production with timely technical assistance.
• Perform general facility maintenance (basic electrical, lighting, plumbing, and building upkeep).
• Install, adjust, and maintain new and existing equipment.
• Follow all safety programs, including Lockout/Tagout, and wear required PPE in environments with mechanical, chemical, and noise exposure.
