Job summary

Familylinks is seeking a Maintenance Technician I in the United States to support facility operations and ensure a safe environment for clients, staff, and visitors. You will perform hands-on upkeep of buildings and infrastructure, collaborating with the team to complete repairs and preventive maintenance.

The role requires basic carpentry, electrical, HVAC, painting, and plumbing skills, plus the ability to document work orders in the ticketing system.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent plus 1–2 years of maintenance/custodial work.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to learn the Familylinks ticketing system.
• Basic carpentry, painting and plumbing; electrical/HVAC preferred.
• Must pass background checks.

Responsibilities

• Competently perform basic maintenance and repairs to upkeep Agency facilities and property in accordance with codes and regulations, following OSHA guidelines.
• Perform basic electrical, carpentry, HVAC, and plumbing repairs; assist with painting, plaster/drywall, flooring, light masonry, landscaping, and snow removal as needed.
• Complete janitorial tasks such as trash removal and floor care.
• Respond to emergency calls for power loss, water leaks, or similar emergencies; may involve snow removal.
• Follow approved work processes; use hand and power tools and equipment safely.
• Apply repair methods and maintenance protocols approved by Familylinks management.
• Accurately document work daily in the Familylinks ticketing system.

Position Summary:

The MaintenanceTechnician I works collaboratively with the Familylinks facility team toprovide critical services that will ensure a safe environment for all clients,staff, and visitors in all aspects of our facilities and equipment. TheMaintenance Technician I will assist the team to manage and oversee the generalupkeep of the building and its infrastructure using in-person, hands-on skillsand labor.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Competentlyperform basic maintenance and repairs to maintain the upkeep of the AgencyFacilities and property in accordance with all building/constructioncodes and contract regulations, following all OSHA safety guidelines.
• Performbasic electrical, carpentry, HVAC, and plumbing repairs within skilllevel, complete project work as needed such as painting, plaster/drywall,flooring repairs and installation, light masonry work, landscaping toinclude snow removal, and possible appliance repairs.
• Completejanitorial tasks such as trash removal, emergency clean ups, and floorcare efficiently as needed.
• Beavailable to respond to emergency calls for issues such as power loss,water leaks, or similar emergency repairs. Emergency calls mayinclude snow removal during winter months.
• Followindustry accepted work processes, and operate hand and power tools, andvarious equipment and construction materials routinely used in buildingtrades in a safe manner.
• Employrepair methods and maintenance protocols approved by Familylinksmanagement for structures, furnishings, equipment, and work safetypractices.
• Accuratelydocument work completed each day in the Familylinks ticketing system totrack status of projects.

Education & Qualifications

• HighSchool Diploma or equivalent plus 1-2 years of experience in generalmaintenance and/or custodial/janitorial work required.
• Valid andcompliant driver's license required.
• Abilityto utilize a computer/laptop, tablet and cell phone, with an understandingof MS Office, and the ability to learn and utilize Familylinks ticketingsystem required.
• Generalknowledge of basic carpentry, painting and plumbing required; anunderstanding of basic electrical and HVAC preferred.
• Workingknowledge of basic landscaping and snow removal processes required.
• Physicalability to work hands-on, along with the capacity to plan for and executethe work with the proper tools and materials required.
• Theability to recognize malfunctions and problems, take corrective action orreport them to supervisor for follow up.
• Abilityto pass background checks and achieve required clearances required.

Working Conditions

• Typicalschedule is Monday to Friday during daytime hours but may be modifiedbased on the maintenance needed and special project requirements, and mayrequire working days, evenings, and/or weekends.
• Abilityto work outside of typical scheduled hours for emergencies.
• Thisposition will be assigned to work on projects in both commercial businessoffice buildings and residential locations.
• Exposureto clients with substance abuse, mental illness, and communicable diseaseis highly likely.
• Mustbe able to work with limited supervision, read and complete work orders,complete daily work logs, and use the computer to check emails and completeother related computer work
• Environmentalconditions: Most duties in this class are performed under periodicallydisagreeable working conditions, exposure to wet conditions, dust, dirt,grease, paint fumes, chemicals, equipment noise and vibrations and willrequire working outside at times in inclement weather and in rough terrain.Janitorial tasks may expose individuals to food waste, or bodily wastesuch as vomit, feces or blood.
• PhysicalRequirements: Position involves pushing, pulling, climbing andreaching, long periods (6-8 hours) of walking and standing, and someperiods of sitting. Adequate hearing and vision capacity to observeproblems, and manual dexterity required to operate power and hand toolsand do computer work. Ability to lift 100 lbs. maximum (with mechanical orhuman assistance) with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objectsweighing up to 50lbs.
