Familylinks, Inc. seeks a Maintenance Technician I to work with the facilities team to maintain a safe environment for clients, staff, and visitors. You will assist with building upkeep and infrastructure using hands-on skills and labor.

Responsibilities include basic maintenance, repairs, and janitorial tasks, with emergency response as needed. Strong focus on safety, documentation, and operating within codes and regulations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent plus 1-2 years of maintenance or custodial/janitorial work.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Ability to use a computer/tablet/phone with MS Office and the Familylinks ticketing system.
• Basic knowledge of carpentry, painting and plumbing; electrical/HVAC knowledge preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 100 lbs with assistance and pass background checks.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic maintenance and repairs to upkeep Agency Facilities and property in compliance with codes and safety guidelines.
• Handle electrical, carpentry, HVAC, plumbing repairs; assist with painting, drywall, flooring, and light masonry; basic landscaping and snow removal.
• Complete janitorial tasks such as trash removal and floor care.
• Respond to emergency calls (power loss, leaks) and possible after-hours work.
• Follow approved work processes and safely operate tools and equipment.
• Document daily work in Familylinks ticketing system.

Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician I works collaboratively with the Familylinks facility team to provide critical services that will ensure a safe environment for all clients, staff, and visitors in all aspects of our facilities and equipment. The Maintenance Technician I will assist the team to manage and oversee the general upkeep of the building and its infrastructure using in-person, hands-on skills and labor.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Competently perform basic maintenance and repairs to maintain the upkeep of the Agency Facilities and property in accordance with all building/construction codes and contract regulations, following all OSHA safety guidelines.
• Perform basic electrical, carpentry, HVAC, and plumbing repairs within skill level, complete project work as needed such as painting, plaster/drywall, flooring repairs and installation, light masonry work, landscaping to include snow removal, and possible appliance repairs.
• Complete janitorial tasks such as trash removal, emergency clean ups, and floor care efficiently as needed.
• Be available to respond to emergency calls for issues such as power loss, water leaks, or similar emergency repairs. Emergency calls may include snow removal during winter months.
• Follow industry accepted work processes, and operate hand and power tools, and various equipment and construction materials routinely used in building trades in a safe manner.
• Employ repair methods and maintenance protocols approved by Familylinks management for structures, furnishings, equipment, and work safety practices.
• Accurately document work completed each day in the Familylinks ticketing system to track status of projects.

General Assignments

• Record time and attendance via HRIS and Timekeeping system.
• Attend meetings/training as requested/required.

• Understand and comply with all Familylinks policies and procedures related to attendance, job performance, and appropriate behavior while on duty.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent plus 1-2 years of experience in general maintenance and/or custodial/janitorial work required.
• Valid and compliant driver's license required.
• Ability to utilize a computer/laptop, tablet and cell phone, with an understanding of MS Office, and the ability to learn and utilize Familylinks ticketing system required.
• General knowledge of basic carpentry, painting and plumbing required; an understanding of basic electrical and HVAC preferred.
• Working knowledge of basic landscaping and snow removal processes required.
• Physical ability to work hands-on, along with the capacity to plan for and execute the work with the proper tools and materials required.
• The ability to recognize malfunctions and problems, take corrective action or report them to supervisor for follow up.
• Ability to pass background checks and achieve required clearances required.

Working Conditions

• Typical schedule is Monday to Friday during daytime hours but may be modified based on the maintenance needed and special project requirements, and may require working days, evenings, and/or weekends.
• Ability to work outside of typical scheduled hours for emergencies.
• This position will be assigned to work on projects in both commercial business office buildings and residential locations.
• Exposure to clients with substance abuse, mental illness, and communicable disease is highly likely.
• Must be able to work with limited supervision, read and complete work orders, complete daily work logs, and use the computer to check emails and complete other related computer work
• Environmental conditions: Most duties in this class are performed under periodically disagreeable working conditions, exposure to wet conditions, dust, dirt, grease, paint fumes, chemicals, equipment noise and vibrations and will require working outside at times in inclement weather and in rough terrain. Janitorial tasks may expose individuals to food waste, or bodily waste such as vomit, feces or blood.
• Physical Requirements: Position involves pushing, pulling, climbing and reaching, long periods (6-8 hours) of walking and standing, and some periods of sitting. Adequate hearing and vision capacity to observe problems, and manual dexterity required to operate power and hand tools and do computer work. Ability to lift 100 lbs. maximum (with mechanical or human assistance) with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50lbs.
