Job summary

Clearwater Housing Development Corporation is seeking a Maintenance Technician I to join the Hampton Apartments team in Clearwater, FL. The role supports safety and appeal by performing repairs in vacant and occupied units and common areas.

The technician will diagnose and repair HVAC, electrical, plumbing, appliances, and other systems, and maintain property grounds. Work hours are 7:30am–4:30pm, Monday–Friday, with on-call requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED certificate.
• One year of experience in carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, appliances and/or electrical maintenance and repair.
• Computer proficiency in Windows operating system and MS Office software.
• Possession of valid Florida Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve properties to ensure safety and appearance.
• Complete repairs in vacant apartments, residential units and common areas.
• Diagnose and repair HVAC, electrical, plumbing, appliances and related systems (no Freon handling).
• Maintain property grounds by removing trash and plant debris.

Maintenance Technician I

The primary duties of a Maintenance Technician are the maintenance and improvement of our properties to ensure safety and appearance. The Maintenance Technician will complete repairs in vacant apartments, residential apartments, and common areas. The Maintenance Technician diagnoses and repairs issues involving HVAC or refrigeration (with the exception of handling freon), electrical, plumbing, elevators, carpentry, drywall, exterior structural and appliances. The Maintenance Technician also maintains property grounds by removing trash and plant debris.

The work is performed in a variety of environments under the overall direction of the Capital Maintenance Officer. This is a full-time, Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm benefits-eligible, on-call position at Hampton Apartments in Clearwater, Florida.

Required Experience:

• High school diploma or GED certificate.
• One year of experience in various trades including carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, appliances and/or electrical maintenance and repair.
• Computer proficiency in Windows operating system and MS Office software.
• Possession of valid Florida Driver’s License.

Necessary competencies:

• Safety, fire prevention, and first aid techniques.
• Measurement and mathematical calculations.
• Operate a motor vehicle.
• Ability to work in a variety of conditions and locations including confined areas, rooftops, underground spaces, etc.
• Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
