SWARCO McCain, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician I for our Otay Mesa, San Diego, CA facility. The role focuses on preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of complex electrical and mechanical production equipment.

Responsibilities include documenting maintenance activities, managing MRO inventory, and coordinating with vendors. Strong safety focus and ability to work weekends on occasion are expected.

Qualifications

Job description

We are looking for a Maintenance Technician I to join our team at our manufacturing facility located in Otay Mesa - San Diego, CA. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing company as we expand our operations. In this role, you will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on complex electrical and mechanical production equipment. Monitor equipment performance, safety, and reliability; diagnoses failures and implements corrective actions to minimize downtime. Maintains accurate records of repairs, modifications, and maintenance activities in the designated system. Perform general building/property maintenance or improvements and manage MRO inventory.

Duties / Responsibilities

1. Execute scheduled maintenance on electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and production equipment to ensure reliability keeping documentation and records up to date.
2. Diagnose electrical and mechanical issues and perform timely repairs to restore equipment to operational conditions minimizing production interruptions or downtime.
3. Perform general maintenance tasks to include but not limited to basic lighting/electrical, plumbing, HVAC, drywall, painting, and other related activities.
4. Manage inventory of MRO’s and cleaning supplies.
5. Research and obtain quotes for facility needs requiring outside vendors. Communicate directly and coordinate activities with outside vendors as needed.
6. Manage waste, coordinate the proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste generated by manufacturing operations, including solder, flux, oils, and wastewater, in accordance with environmental and safety requirements.
7. Support and supervise janitorial tasks to include but not limited to cleaning restrooms, lunchroom, sweeping and mopping floors, and stocking paper products.
8. Operate a variety of maintenance equipment including drills, gauges, hand and power tools, and forklift.
9. Occasional driving to pick up materials to complete maintenance/repairs.
10. Ensure all work is performed in a safe manner. Ensures the company complies with all Cal-OSHA regulations.
11. Work on weekends and handle special projects as needed.

Requirements

1. Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
2. Minimum 3 years of facility maintenance experience and complex electrical and mechanical production equipment preferably SMT equipment.
3. Ability to troubleshoot maintenance issues to either complete or make recommendations for repair.
4. Proficient in facility maintenance requirements with basic technical knowledge in mechanical, piping, HVAC, plumbing, maintenance planning and scheduling, preventative maintenance programs and work order procedures on an electronic system.
5. Effective time management and prioritization skills. Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects.
6. Ability to work with minimal supervision must be responsible and dependable.
7. Excellent interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external individuals.
8. Effective verbal and written communication skills – English and Spanish.
9. Basic working knowledge of MS Office, i.e. Outlook, Word, electronic maintenance log strongly preferred but not required.
10. Must have a valid driver’s license with good driving record and provide current DMV driving record.
11. Reliable auto with proof of insurance.
12. Forklift experience.

Physical Conditions / Requirements

• Work mostly in a controlled indoor environment with some exposure to the outdoor elements.
• Occasional – Routine deadlines; usually sufficient lead time; variance in work volume seasonal and predictable; priorities can be anticipated; some interruptions are present; involves occasional exposure to demands and pressures from persons other than immediate supervisor.
• Job frequently requires standing, kneeling, stooping, and forward bending for extended periods of time and handling objects with hands.
• Jobs occasionally require walking, reaching, climbing, grasping, pushing, talking, hearing, lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
• Vision requirements: Ability to visually see information in print and /or electronically.
• Hearing requirements: Ability to hear people over the telephone and in person; hear noise in surrounding areas, i.e. forklifts in warehouse for safety purposes.
