Job summary

Environmental Air Systems, a full-service mechanical contractor, is seeking a Maintenance Technician I to join our Facilities Department. This role performs scheduled preventative maintenance, routine inspections, and basic facility repairs under supervision, developing broad maintenance skills and working safely with appropriate supervision.

The position supports a range of building systems and requires a high school diploma or GED, plus basic tools experience.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required, or related maintenance experience.
  • Reading and speaking proficiency in English or Spanish.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand and power tools.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, construction, or facilities environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on assets, equipment, and building systems.
  • Complete basic plumbing, carpentry, drywall, painting, and general repairs.
  • Assist higher-level technicians with repairs and projects.
  • Respond to routine work orders and communicate status to leads or managers.
  • Inspect equipment and report safety concerns or emerging problems.
  • Maintain logs and documentation and keep tools and area organized.
  • Drive between locations as needed and adhere to safety policies.
  • Support other Facilities Department needs as directed.

Job description

Environmental Air Systems, a full-service mechanical contractor, is seeking a Maintenance Technician I to join our Facilities Department.

The Maintenance Technician I performs scheduled preventative maintenance, routine inspections, and basic facility repairs under the direction of experienced maintenance personnel. This position is intended for an employee who is developing broad maintenance skills and can complete assigned work safely, efficiently, and with appropriate supervision.

Schedule:

Monday through Thursday 6:00 am to 4:30 pm with overtime, travel between EAS locations, and on-call work as necessary.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on EAS assets, facility equipment, and building systems as assigned.
  • Complete basic plumbing, carpentry, drywall, painting, hardware, and general building repairs.
  • Assist Maintenance Technician II, Maintenance Technician III, and Maintenance Lead personnel with repairs, installations, and improvement projects.
  • Respond to routine maintenance work orders and communicate work status to the appropriate lead or manager.
  • Inspect equipment and facility conditions and report safety concerns, damage, or developing problems.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and lifts safely and in accordance with training.
  • Keep maintenance logs, work orders, and other assigned documentation current and orderly.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, assigned tools, equipment, and maintenance vehicle.
  • Drive a company vehicle between EAS locations when assigned.
  • Follow all EAS safety policies, procedures, and lockout/tagout requirements.
  • Maintain flexibility with assigned duties and support other Facilities Department needs as directed.
  • Other duties may be added as needed by supervision.
Education Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Reading and speaking proficiency in either English or Spanish required.
  • High School Diploma or GED required, or related maintenance, construction, or mechanical experience as determined by department management.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing, construction, or facilities environment preferred.
  • Experience or exposure in the operation and repair of any of the following is considered a plus:
  • Fabrication machinery
  • Robotic machinery
  • Painting systems
  • Welding machines and leads
  • Refrigeration / HVAC
  • Electrical / Control systems
  • Hydraulics
  • Pneumatics
Job Requirements/Special Skills:
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn multiple maintenance trades.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of common hand and power tools.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and ask questions when work requirements are unclear.
  • Good verbal communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Ability to maintain accurate work order and maintenance documentation.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company driving requirements.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to work in conditions of varying heat and cold where noise levels may be at or above 90 decibels.
  • Ability to perform work at heights utilizing ladders and lifts.
