Job summary

Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs in Montevideo is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to perform repair, maintenance, renovation and construction work to keep campus facilities safe and functional. The position supports water systems, HVAC, electrical and building systems, with day shift hours.

This full-time role includes boiler maintenance, groundskeeping, and collaboration with the Building Maintenance Director.

Qualifications

• Current, valid driver's license.
• Ability to attain Minnesota 2nd Class C boiler operator licensure within the probationary period.
• Knowledge of trades methods in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry.
• Ability to operate and maintain tools and equipment safely.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, repair water, plumbing, HVAC and electrical equipment.
• Assist Building Maintenance Director with estimating materials and time.
• Maintain boiler systems, log operations, replace/repair valves.
• Perform groundskeeping including lawn care and snow removal (requires valid driver's license).
