Job summary

Avocet Hospitality Group is seeking a Maintenance Technician for their historic property in Charleston. This role involves caring for and preserving all areas of the hotel, ensuring functionality of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems while maintaining aesthetics.

The ideal candidate has over a year of maintenance experience, preferably in hospitality, and is skilled with hand/power tools. Flexibility in working schedule is essential, as well as the ability to lift and navigate different environments.

What You’ll Do (Primary Duties)

You’ll take ultimate pride in caring for, repairing, and preserving all areas of our historic property.

• Keep it Functioning: Inspect and perform routine maintenance across electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems (think switching fixtures, fixing faucets, and troubleshooting issues).
• Master of Aesthetics: Handle painting and drywall touch-ups to keep the property visually stunning.
• Collaborate: Partner closely with Housekeeping and Guest Services to resolve room work orders rapidly and ensure everything shines before guests notice.
• Be Proactive: Execute ongoing room preventative maintenance programs with a sharp eye for detail.

Who You Are (Job Requirements)

• Experienced: 1+ years of maintenance experience preferred (hotel/hospitality background is a major plus!).
• Certified: High School diploma or equivalent combination of experience. EPA/HVAC certification is a plus.
• Capable: Skilled with hand/power tools, self-motivated, and highly organized under pressure.
• Communicative: Fluent in English to connect seamlessly with the team and follow directions safely.
• Flexible: Ready to work a dynamic schedule based on hotel demand, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Physical: Able to stand/walk for an entire shift, navigate ladders, work outdoors when needed, and comfortably lift up to 75 lbs.
