Job summary

Congress Hall in Cape May, NJ, is seeking a maintenance professional to uphold and repair the Virginia Hotel, The Ebbitt Room, and historic cottages. You will perform hands-on electrical, plumbing, painting, wallpaper, and carpentry tasks, while keeping accurate records in our maintenance software.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and at least three years of related experience. You will work with a team to ensure guest spaces are safe, clean, and welcoming year-round.

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent education required.
• Three years hands-on experience in minor electrical, painting, plumbing and A/C repairs.
• Ability to obtain and/or maintain government licenses, certificates, or permits.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and upkeep across property areas including guest rooms, public spaces, dining areas, and cottages.
• Log all work activity in the maintenance software from start to finish.
• Ensure safety systems (fire alarms, emergency lighting, exit signs) are operational and compliant with hotel standards.
• Respond promptly to guest room calls and address maintenance issues with professionalism.
• Assist with seasonal transitions (winterization, spring reopening, summer readiness).
• Support larger projects with other maintenance and operations team members.
• Serve as part of the Fire Alarm Response Team and assist with guest safety.
• Attend all scheduled trainings and team meetings.
