Job summary

The Maintenance Assistant at Anoka Rehab & Living Center, part of Volunteers of America National Services, ensures preventive maintenance, painting and repairs to keep the facility safe, clean and welcoming for residents, staff and visitors. The role features a Monday–Friday schedule, 8:00am–4:30pm, with every fourth weekend on call.

Pay ranges from $20.18 to $22.38 hourly, dependent on experience, with benefits and growth opportunities available.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Ability to read, understand and follow written and oral instructions.
• Willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks with interruptions.
• Minimum of two years building maintenance experience preferred.
• Knowledge of basic state building, plumbing and electrical codes is helpful.
• Ability to use manuals and technical documents to install/repair equipment.
• Flexible hours including on-call availability.

Responsibilities

• Performs designated cleaning tasks and preventative maintenance services.
• Sweeps, mops, washes and vacuums floors in common areas and facilities.
• Strips, waxes and polishes floors per maintenance schedule.
• Cleans walls, ceilings and lighting fixtures.
• Disposes of trash and maintains clean storage areas.
• Notifies supervisor of supply or equipment needs.
• Stores chemicals and toxic substances safely.
• Assists with on-call emergencies as needed.
