Job description

Maintenance Technician -Gulf Coast Division

• Perform manual labor as required, including operating string trimmers and mowing equipment; using shovels, compactors, and other tools; and completing additional tasks necessary to fulfill assignments.


• Maintain clean and orderly facilities and grounds by mopping, sweeping, removing trash, mowing, performing grounds maintenance, and operating equipment as assigned.


• Safely operate and maintain light equipment, including lawnmowers and string trimmers.


• Safely drive and operate Authority vehicles.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.


• Ability to wear safety-toed footwear and other required personal protective equipment.


• Mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn to operate mowing and related maintenance equipment.


• Ability to swim, walk long distances, and safely lift at least 75 pounds to waist height.


• Physical ability to work outdoors for extended periods, often in adverse terrain and weather conditions, with potential exposure to heat, cold, poison ivy, poison oak, snakes, and insects.


• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions in English.


• Valid Texas driver’s license and eligibility for coverage under the Authority’s automobile insurance policy.


• Ability to communicate professionally and courteously with coworkers and members of the public.


• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
