Job summary

Sabine River Authority of Texas is seeking a maintenance associate to perform manual labor and operate equipment. The role includes boating tasks, mower work, and general upkeep under the Maintenance and Operations Supervisor's guidance.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, a Texas driver’s license, and the ability to lift 75 pounds and operate a motorboat. Weekend work and on-call duties may be required; safety footwear is essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Valid Texas driver’s license; insurable under Authority auto policy (CDL preferred).
• Must understand spoken and written English.
• Ability to swim, walk long distances, and lift up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to safely operate a motorboat and work around water.
• Safety-toed footwear required.
• Climb ladders and work outdoors in adverse conditions.

Responsibilities

• Report to Maintenance and Operations Supervisor.
• Perform manual labor including chainsaw use, buoy handling from a boat, mowing, and digging.
• Operate Authority vehicles as needed.
• Contribute to a positive work environment.
• Perform other duties to support Sabine River Authority of Texas operations.

Organization

This position is part of the Operations branch of the Toledo Bend division.

Position Function

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work directly for the Maintenance and Operations Supervisor
• Do manual labor as required such as operating chainsaw, working buoys from a boat, weed eater, mowing equipment, digging with shovel, etc.
• Drive and operate Authority vehicles
• Willing to contribute to a positive work environment
• Perform any other duties as necessary for the operation of the Sabine River Authority of Texas

EDUCATIONAL, EXPERIENCE, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

• Have a High School diploma or GED equivalent
• Have a valid Texas driver's license and be insurable under the Authority's Auto policy (CDL preferred)
• Be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions in English
• Be able to swim, walk long distances, and safely lift 75 pounds waist high
• Be able to safely operate a motorboat and work in, on, and around the water
• Be able to wear safety-toed footwear
• Be able to climb and work on ladders and to work outdoors under adverse conditions such as heat, cold, rain, insects, poison ivy, snakes, etc.
• Be able to work occasional weekends and be on call
• Be able to learn new skills and have a positive attitude
