Job summary

Indiana University Health Fort Wayne is seeking an experienced HVAC technician to operate, install, troubleshoot and repair heating, cooling, ventilation and refrigeration equipment across campus facilities. You will handle AHUs, walk-in freezers, laminar flow systems, and related controls, coordinating projects as needed.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, Indiana driver's license, and at least 2 years in industrial or healthcare environments.

Hours: Monday-Friday 7a-3:30pm (Weekend and on call coverage will start in May 2027) Location: Fort Wayne Hospital

Job Summary

Operates, installs, troubleshoots and repairs all heating, cooling, ventilation, refrigeration related electromechanical equipment and HVAC related systems throughout various facilities. Inspects, troubleshoots and repairs HVAC electrical, electronics, pneumatics and mechanical applications of systems. Applies understanding of how to operate the following, but not limited to, air handling units (AHU's), freezers, walk-in refrigerators, special room air balancing (i.e. isolation systems and laminar flow systems), laminar flow systems motor controllers, HEPA filtering requirements, and electronic, HVAC/VAV boxes. Coordinates or leads project planning when necessary. Trains colleagues on various skills and tasks. Acts as a resource or mentor to colleagues and provides general leadership to the team. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required.

• May require a valid Indiana driver's license with proof of insurance.
• Requires general knowledge of specialized areas including electrical secondary systems, plumbing systems, fire system devices and air systems.
• Requires the ability to read and interpret information from blueprints, schematics and diagrams.
• Requires general knowledge in the use of power and hand tools.
• Requires basic computer skills.
• Knowledge of applicable building codes related to healthcare preferred.
• Requires a minimum of 2 years relevant experience.
