Job summary

Indiana University Health Fort Wayne Hospital is seeking an HVAC technician to operate, install, troubleshoot and repair heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration systems across facilities.

The role covers AHU units, walk-in freezers, laminar flow systems and related controllers; you will read blueprints and diagrams, coordinate projects and mentor colleagues while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Healthcare setting experience

• 2 years of relevant experience
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid Indiana driver's license with proof of insurance may be required.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics and diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Operate, install, troubleshoot and repair HVAC equipment across facilities.
• Inspect and repair electrical, electronics, pneumatics and mechanical HVAC systems.
• Coordinate or lead project planning when necessary.

Hours: Monday-Friday 7a-3:30pm (Weekend and on call coverage will start in May 2027)
Location: Fort Wayne Hospital

Job Summary

Operates, installs, troubleshoots and repairs all heating, cooling, ventilation, refrigeration related electromechanical equipment and HVAC related systems throughout various facilities. Inspects, troubleshoots and repairs HVAC electrical, electronics, pneumatics and mechanical applications of systems. Applies understanding of how to operate the following, but not limited to, air handling units (AHU's), freezers, walk-in refrigerators, special room air balancing (i.e. isolation systems and laminar flow systems), laminar flow systems motor controllers, HEPA filtering requirements, and electronic, HVAC/VAV boxes. Coordinates or leads project planning when necessary. Trains colleagues on various skills and tasks. Acts as a resource or mentor to colleagues and provides general leadership to the team. Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Requires general knowledge in the use of power and hand tools.
• Requires basic computer skills.
• Knowledge of applicable building codes related to healthcare preferred.
• Requires a minimum of 2 years relevant experience.
