Job summary

Brookside Rehab & Nursing Center is hiring a full-time Maintenance Assistant to focus on floor care and painting, ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents and staff.

The role involves stripping, waxing, buffing and painting, surface prep, touch-ups, and helping with various maintenance tasks. Prior floor care or painting experience is preferred, with emphasis on safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Previous floor care and painting experience preferred.
• Experience operating floor machines is a plus.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and move equipment and supplies.
• Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
• Experience in a healthcare or long-term care setting is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform floor care including stripping, waxing, buffing, and polishing floors.
• Operate floor care equipment safely and effectively.
• Paint resident rooms, hallways, common areas, and other facility spaces.
• Prepare surfaces for painting, including patching, sanding, and cleaning.
• Complete touch-up painting and cosmetic repairs as needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Assist with general facility maintenance projects as assigned.
• Follow all safety, infection control, and facility policies.
• Help ensure the facility maintains a welcoming appearance for residents and visitors.
