Job summary

SSC Services for Education is a nationwide facility service provider and a member of Compass Group. This maintenance technician role supports facility engineering, leadership, quality assurance, training, and handling escalations in educational environments.

Qualifications

• Four years of skilled trade school or maintenance vocational schooling.
• Five years of experience as a maintenance technician in an institutional setting in an engineering or maintenance discipline.
• Two years of experience as a licensed Journeyman in the specialized trade.

Responsibilities

• Assists in decisions on repairs; reports major problems to supervisor and foreman.
• Constructs, installs, maintains and repairs electrical and mechanical systems and related facilities.
• Cleans, services, repairs or diagnoses HVAC, electrical and mechanical building systems and related equipment with proper training and licensing.
• Supervises and leads a group of workers on a project.
• Reads, comprehends and transmits complex instructions verbally and in writing.
• Teaches advanced maintenance skills to other department members.
• Reviews work of outside vendors; creates punch lists.
• Analyses and corrects complex building system problems; works solo or with a team.
• Maintains logs, performs rounds and completes work orders, tests and inspections.
• Makes recommendations for modification or improvement of preventive maintenance systems.
• Serves on facility emergency response team.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

Four years of skilled trade school or maintenance vocational schooling

Five years of experience as a maintenance technician in an institutional setting

Two years of experience as a licensed Journeyman in the specialized trade

Tools

Master license in one trade

Journeyman Electrical License

EPA certification in Refrigerant

Journeyman Plumber License

Valid driver’s license
