Job summary

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta seeks a skilled maintenance technician to support engineering and facility systems within our hospital. You will operate vehicles as needed and perform planned and general maintenance to ensure safe, reliable environments for patients, visitors, and staff.

The role requires reading blueprints, understanding healthcare building systems, and complying with infection control and safety standards.

Qualifications

• 3 years of experience in trade work (electricity, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, boilers, locksmith) or HVAC certification.
• HVAC Certification preferred; Universal Refrigeration Certification preferred.
• Valid Georgia driver’s license with insurable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Operate and drive Children’s vehicles throughout the organization as needed for operational needs.
• Perform planned and general maintenance on systems and equipment: inspect, test, maintain, install, repair.
• Maintain accurate logs/records of work in mechanical rooms and know major building systems operations.

Job Description

Provides effective and efficient maintenance, engineering, and mechanical system support. Ensures, within all regulatory agency requirements, that buildings, equipment, and grounds (where applicable) are maintained in a safe and aesthetically pleasing condition to provide an appropriate environment for the wellbeing of patients, visitors, and staff. Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

Experience

• 3 years of experience in trade work such as electricity, plumbing, heating/ventilation/air conditioning, refrigeration, boilers, and locksmith or HVAC certification from an accredited program if no prior work experience

Preferred Qualifications

• HVAC Certification
• Universal Refrigeration Certification preferred

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent

Certification Summary

Job Responsibilities

• Responsible for operating and driving Children’s vehicles throughout the organization as needed and to specified vendors or sites based on operational needs.
• Performs planned and general maintenance functions on systems and equipment, including inspecting, testing, maintaining, installing, and repairing.
• Maintains accurate, legible records/logs of all work/rounds made in mechanical rooms and has a thorough knowledge of the major building systems operations and valve locations.
• Uses hand, diagnostic, and power tools relating to the physical plant equipment, observing proper onsite handling.
• Keeps tools, equipment, and mechanical rooms in safe, clean, and organized working condition.
• Assists Engineering Coordinator in purchasing parts, supplies, and materials necessary for proper maintenance of the systems and equipment in accordance with departmental procedures.
• Meets all in-service requirements, complies with all system policies and procedures, and understands and complies with infection control, safety, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards.
