Job summary

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is seeking a facilities maintenance engineer to support hospital campuses, satellite facilities, and the support center. The role focuses on safe, compliant operation of building systems and timely maintenance to ensure patient care quality.

The position requires 3 years of trade experience and knowledge of healthcare facility codes; HVAC/blueprints skills are valued. Location at 1571 Northeast Expy NE, Atlanta, GA, with day shift responsibilities and standard

Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience in trade work such as electricity, plumbing, heating/ventilation/air conditioning, refrigeration, boilers, and locksmith or HVAC certification from an accredited program if no prior work experience
  • HVAC Certification Universal Refrigeration Certification preferred
  • Education High school diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities read blueprints and schematics; knowledgeable of healthcare facility systems; must know codes; good communication; able to work without direct supervision

Responsibilities

  • Performs planned and general maintenance functions on systems and equipment, including inspecting, testing, maintaining, installing, and repairing
  • Maintains accurate, legible records/logs of all work/rounds in mechanical rooms; thorough knowledge of major building systems operations and valve locations
  • Uses hand, diagnostic, and power tools relating to the physical plant equipment; observes proper onsite handling
  • Keeps tools, equipment, and mechanical rooms safe, clean, and organized
  • Assists Engineering Coordinator in purchasing parts, supplies, and materials for maintenance per procedures
  • Meets in-service requirements, complies with policies and infection control and safety standards

Job Description

Provides effective and efficient maintenance, engineering, and mechanical system support to hospital campuses, satellite facilities, and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta - Support Center. Ensures, within all regulatory agency requirements, that buildings, equipment, and grounds (where applicable) are maintained in a safe and aesthetically pleasing condition to provide an appropriate environment for the wellbeing of patients, visitors, and staff. Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

Job Responsibilities
  • Performs planned and general maintenance functions on systems and equipment, including inspecting, testing, maintaining, installing, and repairing.
  • Maintains accurate, legible records/logs of all work/rounds made in mechanical rooms and has a thorough knowledge of the major building systems operations and valve locations.
  • Uses hand, diagnostic, and power tools relating to the physical plant equipment, observing proper onsite handling.
  • Keeps tools, equipment, and mechanical rooms in safe, clean, and organized working condition.
  • Assists Engineering Coordinator in purchasing parts, supplies, and materials necessary for proper maintenance of the systems and equipment in accordance with departmental procedures.
  • Meets all in-service requirements, complies with all system policies and procedures, and understands and complies with infection control, safety, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards.
Qualifications
  • Experience 3 years of experience in trade work such as electricity, plumbing, heating/ventilation/air conditioning, refrigeration, boilers, and locksmith or HVAC certification from an accredited program if no prior work experience
  • Preferred Qualifications HVAC Certification Universal Refrigeration Certification preferred
  • Education High school diploma or equivalent
