Job summary

McCormick Foundation is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to support facility improvements and ongoing maintenance across Cantigny Park and related properties. The role requires hands-on work, basic carpentry, painting, and general labor, with emphasis on safety and efficient operation.

The ideal candidate will have a High School Diploma and about 1 year of facilities maintenance experience, basic knowledge of building systems and tools, and a valid IL driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• 1 year of facilities maintenance experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of building systems and maintenance.
• Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
• Ability to lift and maneuver 75 lbs and work from ladders and lifts.
• Must be willing to work.
• Team player with ability to work independently when needed.
• Demonstrated passion for the Foundation’s mission and values.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
• Valid IL driver’s license.
• Must attend Cantigny Park’s Child Safety Training.

Responsibilities

• Assist in building improvement and alteration projects and repair building systems.
• Perform duties including wall construction, digging, cleaning, operating tools and equipment, moving items, and parts pickup.
• Keep hand and power tools in good condition.
• Ensure facilities and equipment are organized, clean, and operating; notify Director of Capital Projects if not.
• Follow purchasing procedures.
• Prioritize safety and complete required safety training and procedures.
