Job summary

U.S. Silica is seeking a Maintenance B to assist mechanics, electricians, and mobile techs in repairing and maintaining plant machinery and facilities at our Pacific, MO location. The role operates on a 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM shift, with a focus on safety, reliability, and environmental responsibility.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, welding capability, and a strong safety mindset. Prior experience with forklift, MSHA knowledge, and office software is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Visually inspect equipment and work area before shifts; document inspections.
• Follow safety policies and report unsafe conditions.
• Report accidents immediately and barricade defects.
• Maintain clean high-traffic areas and monitor leaks/spills.
• Comply with environmental standards and report events.
• Support PM program through analysis and recordkeeping.
• Maintain parts inventory and assist with repairs.
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair production and safety equipment.
• Complete work orders on schedule; communicate with operations.
• Document completed tasks and request tools/parts as needed.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Job description

The Maintenance B assists maintenance mechanics, electricians, and mobile techs as needed in the repairs and maintenance of plant machinery, equipment, structures, tools and facilities as needed to meet production needs in a safe, reliable, efficient, and environmentally responsible manner.

SHIFT: 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM

Responsibilities

• Before work begins on any shift, visually inspect equipment and work area to ensure both are in safe operating condition. Document this inspection on workplace exam.
• Follow all company safety and health policies.
• Report any unsafe conditions to management for repairs. Any defects will be barricaded, and a notification will be posted. Equipment will be locked and tagged out as required.
• Report all accidents immediately.
• Keep all high traffic areas clean and clear of any trash, debris, tools, hoses, or other miscellaneous items (use proper procedures for oil and other lubricants leaks and spills).
• Follow and maintain all applicable standards related to Environmental Compliance.
• Report any Environmental events to plant management.
• Help maintain the Pm program through analysis.
• Maintain parts inventory.
• Assist mechanics in safely completing jobs on time Additional duties as assigned.
• Performs preventative mechanical maintenance in accordance with established procedures.
• Troubleshooting, repairs and adjustments to production and safety equipment.
• Complete WO’s on schedule, establish good communications with operations personnel.
• Fill out all needed paperwork to record completed tasks, request needed tools and parts, and provide needed information to management.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• High level of safety and quality.
• Proficient in welding and other hot work.
• Personal Protective Equipment will be worn at all time while on duty (hard hat, hard toe shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection and gloves).
• Ability to multi-task at a fast-pace (at times), work in outside conditions during all seasons, climb multi-levels by stairs & ladders, work from elevated platforms, use hand tools (shovel, hammer, wrenches, etc.).
• Good problem-solving skills.
• Mine Safety and Health (MSHA) Knowledge - Preferred.
• Forklift experience - Preferred.
• Computer Software - Preferred.
• Warehouse experience - Preferred.
• Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.), WonderWare or equivalent equipment process software, JD Edwards (JDE) - Preferred.
