Position: Maintenance Technician, Automation and Controls

The Maintenance Technician, Automation and Controls, is responsible for installing, maintaining, optimizing, and repairing automation and control systems at Bakerly Ranch. This includes troubleshooting PLCs and components like motion sensors, control parts, and photosensors on the production line. They serve as an automation and controls subject matter expert, support maintenance activities, communicate with departments, and develop training to enhance production and efficiency.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Assisting with the specification, installation, and modification of automated systems.
  2. Communicating project statuses, resolving issues, and ensuring automation functionality.
  3. Inspecting and maintaining control systems and workstation setups.
  4. Calibrating machines regularly and updating preventive maintenance plans.
  5. Supporting maintenance projects, including facilities and refrigerant tasks.
  6. Advancing automated systems within the plant.
  7. Coordinating schedules and delegating tasks.
  8. Providing technical guidance and training to colleagues.
  9. Supporting troubleshooting and mechanical issue resolution during production.
  10. Participating in continuous improvement initiatives and vendor interactions.
  11. Monitoring machinery adjustments for efficient operations.
  12. Using the CMMS (Manager Plus) system for work orders.
  13. Implementing best practices for automation maintenance and reliability.

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of experience in electrical, mechanical, or industrial automation, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Experience with PLCs, industrial electricity, automation controls, and mechanical repairs.
  • Knowledge of plant-specific automation products like SewEuro, Siemens PLCs, and VFDs.
  • Basic skills in AutoCAD / SolidWorks.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with managers, technicians, and contractors.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, autonomy, and results orientation.
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures, heights, near machinery and chemicals.
  • Flexible schedule and ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
